Honor Code of Central Eurasian Studies Workgroup (CESWG)

CESWG personnel shall keep all drafts from contributors confidential, and shall not, prior to the publication of a contributor’s draft, use any information or idea from the draft in one’s own published material or material for publication.

CESWG shall not ask a draft contributor to pay any money or to buy any product or service, as condition for publishing his (or her) work or making the said work available for sale or distribution.

Should CESWG decide to not publish a work whose intellectual property right(s) was (were) transferred to CESWG or whose intellectual property license(s) was (were) given to CESWG, and such transfer of right(s) or giving of license(s) were done with the understanding that CESWG would publish the work, CESWG shall return such right(s) to the former owner(s) from whom CESWG received it (them) and treat such license(s) as void.

CESWG shall not retract any work that it published unless (1) required by law to which CESWG is subject, (2) the work includes something in violation of intellectual property right (e.g., copyright, patent, trademark), right of publicity, or right to privacy, all as protected by law to which CESWG is subject, (3) the work is the product, in part or full, of plagiarism or of data falsification, or (4) duly requested to so retract by all of the work’s formal contributors for reason(s) deemed legitimate and credible by CESWG. If one or some but not all of the formal contributors of a work duly request(s) retraction for reason(s) deemed legitimate and credible by CESWG, CESWG may retract the work upon offering to transfer back to the formal contributor(s) who did not so request retraction any intellectual property that CESWG holds in the work that he (she, or they) had transferred to CESWG.
